Eric has been with Cougar Aquatic since 2004. He started swimming at age seven and began his coaching career at age 17 with the Blue Dolphin Aquatic Club in Brownsville, Texas. While in college in San Antonio, he coached age group and high school level swimmers for the Alamo Area Aquatics Association. Eric moved to New Jersey in 2001 to work with Metro Swim Shop. While working a swim meet a few years later, he met Coach Judy who brought him on board at CAT (and the rest, as they say, is history). Eric coached the Gold Team, Senior Prep Team, Senior 1 and Senior National teams. From 2006-2008, Eric was selected to coach the 13 & Overs for the New Jersey Zone team during those Short Course seasons. Eric ultimately decided to shift coaching, which had always been a part time gig, into his full time career when he took over CAT in 2015.

Thinking back to childhood swimming memories, Eric remembers being selected, at age 13, along with a group of other kids to represent the U.S. at a meet in Mexico City. They traveled down about a week early in an effort to acclimate to the altitude. The plan was to no avail, all swimmers flopped badly! When their trip was featured in a local paper upon their return, everyone was pictured in their suits, but not Eric, who was fully clothed. He’d managed to break his thumb jumping off a wall at school and wasn’t allowed to swim!

Eric attended St. Mary's University in San Antonio, where he received his BBA in International Business.
