Coach Miguel is an assistant coach.

As a child, Miguel played soccer and ran. As a teenager in Guatemala, he turned to cycling and competed in a Young Tour for seven days called “Vuelta de la Juventud.” After a leg injury, he quit cycling and, while in college, learned to swim for fun. When his children were young, he brought them to a local pool in Union City just for them to play around. After noticing how much they enjoyed being in the water, he taught them the basics in swimming and later helped them prepare for triathlons in which they competed in between 2015 and 2018. One of his children placed second in the Tough Kids Championship Triathlons! In 2018, Miguel got his USA Swimming coach certification.

Miguel’s passion for the wonderful sport of swimming began with teaching his kids and has continued to grow as his children have evolved as swimmers. He finds joy working with CAT swimmers and hopes to be a part of their journey into becoming the best swimmers they can be.
